End-of-service gratuity is the payment a worker receives when employment ends. This calculator follows Article 51 of the UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) and shows its working so you can check it. Under Article 51, a full-time foreign worker with at least one year of continuous service receives 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days of basic wage for each year after that. Partial years are paid in proportion. The daily wage is the monthly basic wage divided by 30. The last basic wage only. Allowances such as housing, transport and utilities are not included unless your contract says otherwise. Yes. The total gratuity cannot exceed two years of wage. With the standard rates this limit is reached after about 25.5 years of service. Yes. Under the current law the same formula applies whether you resign or your employer ends the contract, as long as you completed one year of continuous service. The reductions for resignation in the old 1980 law no longer apply. No. Days of unpaid absence are not counted as service. Paid annual leave and sick leave still count. The UAE government portal (u.ae) says all end-of-service entitlements must be paid within 14 days of the end date of the contract. No. UAE nationals follow the pension and social-security rules, and DIFC and ADGM have their own employment rules. Check with your employer or the relevant authority. Employers can choose to join a voluntary scheme where they pay monthly contributions into an approved investment fund instead of gratuity. If your employer enrolled you, gratuity earned before enrolment is still payable, and this calculator does not cover the later period. Ask your HR team. No. It is an estimate for general information. It is not a MOHRE tool and not legal advice. Please check the official sources listed under Basis of calculation.UAE End-of-Service Gratuity Calculator
